Production optimisation on Valhall Flanks
valhall flank southProblems in producing from certain wells arose on BP’s Valhall Flank South and Flank North installations as a result of high backpressure in the pipelines to Valhall Process & Compression Platform (PCP). This was causing a substantial loss of production from the Valhall flanks. Sørco was commissioned to work with opportunities for
reducing the backpressure topside on the flanks through a feasibility study.

One proposal which was evaluated involved injecting drag-reducing agents (DRA) in the 7 km flowline linking the Flank South/North facilities with Vallhall PCP. In addition to the DRA option, Sørco evaluated a number of other solutions – including implementation of multiphase booster pumps as well as the use of ejector technology.
