Sørco was awarded the FEED/pre-engineering contract for upgrading and replacing the process control and safety systems in the Statpipe section of the Kårstø complex, as sub-contractors to M W Kellogg.  The Statpipe area of the plant became operational in 1985 and due to life cycle of the plant, safety and automation systems and equipment are becoming obsolete. Sørco developed a project execution strategy to replace and reconnect the process control and data acquisition (PCDA), process shutdown (PSD) and emergency shutdown (ESD) systems.

The size and criticality of the plant in production terms and the large number of signals processed presents the KEP2010 Instrument Upgrade Project as a very interesting challenge for our process control and instrumentation specialists.
