Greater Ekofisk Area Development Project

In connection with ConocoPhillips’ plans for further development of the Ekofisk area, Apply Sørco was awarded a study contract to evaluate alternatives and options for reducing emissions from the Greater Ekofisk Area.

The conceptual study included development of the emission strategy for the area and involved screening and evaluation of options for optimizing energy consumption on the platforms 2/4 J, 2/4 K and Eldfisk 2/7 E, electrification of the installations in full or in part, and screening of further emission reduction opportunities with regard to CO2, NOX, CH4 or VOC.

The study had the following main focus points:

• Optimize the production by using the waste heat and energy from the existing platform processes and replace old technology with new
• Electrification of the installations where a sub-sea cable from shore was one of the options
• Calculate possible emission reductions
