Technology Integration of Innovative Low Salinity-EOR Technology

The Operator of the giant ACG fields in Azerbaijan, British Petroleum, has identified significant Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) potential by using low salinity water injection. However, investment costs for traditional technology are too high compared to the potential benefits. Az ACG is therefore pursuing the low salinity EOR potential by evaluating use of the SWIT technology developed by NOV-Seabox for supply of low salinity water to a significantly lower total investment and operation cost.

The base case for this study was to establish the main technical data, technology feasibility, associated cost and schedule for a 300 000 bpd plant for producing low salinity water at the Shallow-Water Gunashli (SWG) facilities. Apply Sørco utilized the SWIT subsea technology in combination with topside microfiltration (MF) and Reverse Osmosis (RO) units.
